When I look at the pics on Brownells I can't see how it's any different than a DPMS or other common wrench - what's changed that affects the Delta ring?

Ah - it wasn't obvious from the little pics on Brownells site. That's one of the major annoyances from barreling, I agree. Thanks!
I have the Smith, DPMS and GI barrel wrenches.
All of them suck.
Waiting on LaRue or Hammerhead to make a good wrench.
I have no idea if they made it, but I have a BM wrench for M4s. I see no way it could ever be broken doing work on AR-15s.
I have a PRI wrench and it is a ****ing monster. It grabs the full 360 degrees of the barrel nut and will fit 1/2" and 3/8" wrenches. Very well made. You wil obviously have to remove your FSB to use a PRI style wrench. But for breaking loose a stubborn barrel nut, nothing beats it.
The DD wrench works well with their bolt-up system. I was surprised how nice it worked.
What you wrote here really intrigues me. I was surprised to see that on Brownell's site the wrench got a few bad reviews based on it's limited function. Meaning it wouldn't fit things such as a flash hider with it's cut out's not being quite correct.
I was just curious if you had experienced anything along those lines? Actually my own question isn't a deal breaker for me on it the main application would be installing/removing the main barrel nut without fighting the delta components.
Thanks.
