Why the corportation and the c&r? Is that a state requirement where you live?

Yes its a retarded state law.
You have to have an FFL to hold any NFA items in Missouri. A C&R suffices. My local sheriff, while a nice guy, doesnt seem to keen on signing off Form1's or 4's(at least not for people he is not buddy buddy with), hence the need to go either Trust or Corporate. Well a Trust can not hold an FFL(at least not that I can figure out how to do it) so there for I have to do a corporation. It only costs 50 bucks to do(one time fee in Missouri) and then I fill out the C&R forms with the Corporation holding the C&R. Then when filling out the Form 1 or 4 the corporation ends up "owning" the weapon. It actually works out well because I can put just about anybody on as a member of the corporation and then they are all entitled to use and possess the NFA item(although currently only me and my dad are on the corporation, which we use for a side business we have as well).
