Question for the Armorers
I am not an armorer so I wanted to pose this question to those that are. I was researching on Brownell's... and came across this little number. I did a "google search" for reviews, and also did a search on here. Came up with zip.
Made by Fulton Armory... called the McFarland Bolt Gas Ring. Seems that it's one continuous ring, wound to be the thickness of the three gas rings on a conventional DI Bolt.
In theory, this sounds like a great idea, but is it just turd polishing or does it actually work?
In my 24 years in the Army, I have never had a failure due to the gas rings lining up causing issues. Can it happen? Sure it can... but, I've never seen it.
Then again... I just had my very FIRST extractor break on me the other day. 24 years of running M16's / AR's... and I had my first.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thank you so much, in advance for your input.
Cheers!
