It is going to get worse for Raymond Davis.

The press is outing him as a spy.

I did not see details on the news on this particular point - did he have a chance to leave the scene and go straight to the US embassy? In other words, did he choose to stay at the scene waiting for police as would be SOP in a civilized country, or was he effectively trapped by a crowd right from the beginning?

There is probably a fed law against government employees killing people or committing other crimes outside the US if such action would have been a crime if committed within the US [in DC?]. We can all assume what his position over there was. But, when there are people who are current and former "Government Officials" confirming his employment, and talking to the press, I consider it as "outing him".

Maybe the blame should just lie with the current government employees who talked to the reporters. But, even the AP reported that they knew what Davis was doing in Pakistan, but agreed not to disclose anything until the matter was settled.

This will make it harder for the Pakistani Government to release Davis, IMO.

Maybe I am wrong to blame the press. But, there should be an investigation into who talked and why.

Isn't this outing a much bigger deal than the Joe Wilson outing? The dude is in jail in a relatively hostile country.

Not sure I'd call the guy a spy, a big white guy with a plaid shirt in Pakistan stands out like a black guy in the north pole.

He was working security not committing acts of espionage while working as a rocket scientist in some government office, big difference.

But because he'll be seen as a spy by press here at home and abroad he'll be treated harshly, people just don't like spies. And it's a shitty situation.

You are correct. I was talking about the article. And to be fair, the article doesn't accuse him of that, only the protestors do. The article just talks about his possible connection to the CIA.

I need to take a breath next time I post an article about this incident. This whole thing has me a little pissed off. I just wish I was more confident that the U.S. was doing all it could to ensure the safe return of Davis.

The reports say that he shot the 2 guys dead, then took some pictures of their bodies. He called for some "backup" and they tried to get to him, but ended up running over and killing a third guy. The backup never made it to the shooter.

Then, the shooter tried to drive off but he couldn't get his car through the crowd that had gathered for this incident. That's how he got caught.

If this guy doesn't get released from jail soon, I'm going to be very pissed. I can understand the U.S. being patient and letting the Pakistanis keep their diginity. But they should be told that he's going to be leaving, and they can do this the easy way or the hard way.

I'm sure there are a lot of Americans that would volunteer to get him out the hard way.
