I've been wondering this for quite some time. What is the expected (or theoretical) lifespan of a pencil barrel (chrome lined, non BFH, just like a typical BCM barrel)? From my thinking, it is not "quite" (but close to) as rigid as an m4 profile, so it will flex more and maybe not last quite as long. It will also heat up faster so under rapid fire it could degrade faster. Would 30k rounds be a good estimate before the thing cannot hardly shoot very well? Looking for service life like when the Army would get rid of it. Also, I'm assuming typical use. Not full auto, but running the gun like many of the educated people on this site do. Thanks!
Ben
