To this day, I'm still not 100% sure what caused this, but my magnifier fogged up on the inside after about 4 months in Afghanistan. I couldn't use the top half of my FOV. Combined with the short eye relief that was always awkward for me and I finally had the excuse I was looking for to just run the 557 on its own. I eventually put my issued flip-up rear sight back on and kept it flipped up. I never *had* to use my iron sights, but the thought of having to voluntarily flip up a sight post in a 2-way never excited me. Once again, thankfully, my EOTech never failed me. If I could go back and do all of it over again, I'd probably stick with the ACOG I was issued and have just been done with it.Quote:

I understand the completing the rifle comment. In my opinion, I'd sell the whole set up and buy an Aimpoint Comp series or a different EOTech. The reticle on the 557 was "fuzzy" in my opinion and the whole BDC aspect of it was wasted on me after I ditched the magnifier. Without running the 4x, I couldn't really distinguish the individual dots and it got in the way when trying to shoot around 300-400 yards. Once again, lesson learned the hard way.
