What are considered good parts? Are these parts made by a certain manufacturer? I just want to know what parts I should look for when it is time to put my AR together.

Recommend POF 16" carbine. Alternative is LW or HK 416. That is what I would buy anyway.
That depends on what you're looking for. For a basic carbine, he uses mil-spec parts.
There are several good manufacturers depending on what type of rifle you're building. LMT, Colt, BCM, Sabre Defence, etc.Quote:

POF = Patriot Ordnance Factory
LW = Leitner-Wise
These are piston uppers, not DI (direct impingement) like a standard AR. Some people prefer them...some people don't. They typically cost more than a DI upper, too.
The HK 416 really isn't a practical choice, IMO, since the upper alone costs several thousand dollars in the current market.
POF, LWRC and HK are very nice rifles, but are the really worth their prices? :cool:
Welcome aboard. :)
I would suggest that you read all the sticky threads in the technical forum. There is a plethora of detailed information on just about everything, to include staking, barrels, MPI, etc.
