I like that the reticle on the NXS (I'm using the FC2) is actually usable for holdovers compared to the TR24 offerings. The NXS gives you an easy 5,10,15 MOA holdover at 4x. There's a bit more eye relief with the NXS as well, which is noticeable when you shoot from different positions. As far as illumination goes, I think the fiber optic illumination is the strong point of the TR24, but I didn't feel any slower shooting with the NXS with the reticle illumination turned off. On the other side of that, in low light when using a flashlight the TR24 illumination pretty much totally washes out, but you can turn up the illumination on the NXS to a usable level.
Personally, I love the Trijicon Accupoint with the delta reticle. Accurate, and works great for both a reflex and a longer-range optic, being 1-4x.
The TR-24T really is a freaking giant killer optic. If you can live without a more complicated reticle, it is the best optic under two grand, let along one for lots of applications.

I have had a Trijicon TR24 and just got a Vortex Viper PST.
The Trijicon is pretty unique in the market - IMO it is the closest thing to an aimpoint you can get with a "real" scope. In addition, unlike an aimpoint, it is also very capable at medium ranges (out to 300y or so) - and to top it all of it doesn't run on batteries.
However....if you ever have to send a scope in, Trijicon customer service sucks in a big way - or at least it does for me. Sincerely hope my experience is a one off and I won't go into details here as I am not yet through with them, but suffice to say I will sell the TR24 when it finally comes back to me repaired (and we are at 2 months and counting now), and I will never buy another Trijicon product again.
The Viper PST - *excellent* glass and turrets, which really are just outstanding in feel and positivity. They delayed the launch of the scope for issues with these - and that dedication has paid off, IMO. It also has a very good reticle, and overall excellent build quality. With this scope, there are multiple ways to do everything. You have a real choice as to whether to click to adjust, or to accurately holdover with the reticle. Illumination could be improved, as could their battery cap which you really have to tighten hard to make good contact, but aside from that, bang for $, I am really digging it. Another huge plus I find is the eye relief is really forgiving all the way through the range, zoomed in or out - it is very unpicky about where you have your head. One other thing with Vortex - and I'll confess some of the reason I chose this scope is off the back of my awful CS experience with Trijicon - is that I hear nothing but excellence about their customer service; and I like the way they positively engage with the firearms community on a bunch of different forums. If they are reading this, I'd like them to know their efforts have not gone unnoticed, and to keep up the good work - and to never get "Too big to fail".
What went wrong with yours? I'm curious because up until recently I hadn't seen any reports of problems, and then I had mine turn itself into an aquarium and personally saw another one do the same thing. And then earlier in this thread a guy reported that his TR24 was giving him a significant zero shift when changing magnification.Quote:
