If a guy shows up to discuss his gun or holster or whatever, then I am not going to hold my tongue just because his feelings might get hurt if he bought a piece of crap. Hopefully the mood will strike me to be diplomatic, however. If the gun is to be used to preserve life, someone may die as a result of it being a piece of crap. If I were him, I would hope someone would give me a heads up that I am on the wrong track.Quote:

I bought a Raven Concealment G17 LC holster because it fit my needs perfectly. I have demo'ed their gear before I purchased and found it completely suitable to my needs, wants and price point.
I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy a kydex holster.

Why is he recommending them and why is he recommending them to everyone? He hasn't revealed his experience, nor has he revealed why he's suggesting them other than the fact he likes them, so he comes across either as a noobie or as someone trying to justify their own purchase.
That post is something I typically see on arfcom and something I like seeing less of over here.
Compare that with Trident82's post on 10" AR barrel accuracy, where he documented every single step and then basically stated 10.5" barrels were accurate enough for most people. Trident's post is supported with facts and they are used for a logical conclusion.
Ughh, kinda hate threads like this because generally someone walks away butt hurt.
The issue that I have with a lot of the recommendations on holsters is the misconception that all kydex holsters are equal. I have seen guys online raving about how brand X is just as good or even better than brand Y... The bottom line is that its just not the case, because people get the product fast, or because it was less expensive, they tend to overlook the quality variances that exist. They then start to shill for company X as if it was every bit as good as Y company. That starts a vicious cycle that ends up hurting the consumer who might see their drivel and believe they are buying a comparable product of company Y .
I think its bullshit! That said what do you do? Do you openly bash another company selling kydex holsters, or do you just go about your business assuming that the person making the claims isn't smart enough to know the difference or recognize the quality in company Y?
I have seen a huge variance in the quality between kydex makers, yet even the shitty ones get lumped into the same mix as the quality makers...
What do you do? At the end of the day is helping someone with a holster selection online even worth the time?

BTW, at some point we've all got to stop posting that I've taken X classes, or shot with this or that, or I was an 11B or Recon, or whatever. Furthermore, introducing variables only convalutes the issue -- so let's presume it was someone of a known quality, like if that post had come from Robb Jensen or mark5pt56 or Detmongo or JFreuler.
From me, sure I'd need to qualify to someone who doesn't know me, but to those that do, they can usually guess that I've tried, at a minimum, the RCS and several others before I'd lay it out there for review.

I have a few guys I trust, and I ask them, or borrow theirs at a class and try it. Or run their gun, or sling, or grip. Or worse I buy it and try it myself, then sell it if it's not what I wanted.
Sitting behind my computer, bashing the hell out of someone for not buying what I bought....

I've learned a couple of expensive lessons with these ARs. I'm still learning. Others have as well and will in the future. I like to refer to it as ..........continuing education.

Generally, if someone has already bought something and asks what others think of it, all they're really wanting is validation. If you've tested it and think it's a great piece of kit, I guess there's nothing wrong with saying so. If they ask a serious question like "What are the drawbacks or things I need to look out for", then it might be worth commenting about known issues or worthwhile mods/upgrades.
Otherwise, a complete lack of response will tell the OP what they should have known before spending their money.
