I think a huge portion of this debate hinges on what rail you go with. The DD Lite series are a few ounces heavier than the TRX Extreme series, and have a much better attatchment system. What I like most about the DD design was not having to index a barrel nut. Set your torque and attatch.
I also like how the DD Lite doesn't use small screws. I have more faith in larger screws as it relates to stripping them. Like I said before, the DD Lite is a much higher quality rail, which is evident in the machine work and the price tag.
But the fact remains that when you start adding rail covers to your rail, you increase both the weight and profile of the handguard. The low profile DD 12.0 become a tad bulky.
I had wanted to try out one of the DD RISII rails when I saw they were on Midwayusa in black again. Sad part is they lasted for about 3 days before being sold out again.
Now that I have a TRX Extreme, which thanks to Cal's Sporting Armory was only $158, I find myself wanting a better way to mount my AFG. I've seen the direct screw on mods people have done, but this seems less than ideal. What I would like to see is a more streamlined rail section.
