How are american defense mounts?

FWIW, I started a Thread yesterday about my experiences with my ADM Mount for my T-1. I also show what I did to alleviate the "tight/loose problem".

BTW, I am completely happy with my ADM.

But maybe it's just me...

I'm happy with the one I have for my little Insight MRDS. I have it on an MP5 and it lets the optic sit just above the front sight and it's protective hood. The hood is just faintly in the lower section of the window but not enough to cause any distraction for me.

I haven't tried much in the way of on/off repeatability the set up is zeroed at about 25 yds.

ADM mounts work very well.
The other two others of the Virginia Arms Shooting Team use ADMs Recon and Recon-X mounts on their 3gun rifles. I'm sponsored by Bobro Engineering for optics mounts and use them on all my scoped ARs.

This is my newest mount, it's a very tall 30mm Bobro Engineering mount made spec'd out by me for height. It has a prototype base using two Bobro throw levers. I find that having the scope mounted higher than a typical 30mm AR scope mount I can shoot targets faster especially those from 0-150yds.

Robb, is the Bobro mount you spec'd higher than the 1.93" that a couple of mount makers sell for their "high" mount?
I think the 1.93" is the height necessary to be above a FSB.

It's similar in height, as I said it's spec'd for/by me.

I have owned Larue mounts for a Comp M4 and a T1. I recently picked up a new M4s and chose to go with ADM and the SOCOM spacer. It has returned to zero for me, the one time I tested it. It is a very well manufactured mount and I am very happy with my choice. Don't get me wrong, Larue is a great choice, but I wanted to try out something different. The thing I like about the ADM mounts as opposed to the Larue, is that ADM has more "rail grabbing" surface compared to the Larue. The Larue however is a simpler mount, and should be just a bit more "bomb proof" Than the ADM.

ADM is superior to Larue.

I find the Larue locking concept to be a fundamentally flawed system that does not apply a normal force to the rail but a pinching downward force while caming a piece of steel against aluminum that will dent the upper.

I tried a Larue Aimpoint mount when they first came out and immediately went back to the KAC with hex nut. Since then I have used ADM exclusively for everything.

The throw lever on an ADM should be hard to lock in and remove. I use my sling under the lever to pry the lever up.

The concept of being able to do with just fingers is idoitcy. I don't understand why people think they can mount optics with finger tightness and maintain zero. People have been mounting optics now on firearms for more than 100 years and they are screwed down tight with tools.

Don't even get me started on ARMS...

ADM mounts are supposed to be tight, and with a little persuasion, the lever will still work as intended. It will be harder to throw than a Larue mount, but Larue isn't the standard of measurement for mount-lever tightness.

I really like ADM mounts. I've used them on two different T1's and both were outstanding to use. I don't think it's possible to get them off without ripping the upper in half.

I'm with Scott, I'd go ADM over Larue because I prefer the way it interfaces with the rail.

Robb - What about shooting from prone? I have trouble getting my eye up to the level of the optic even on mounts that are 1.5 - 1.6" above the rail. (Shooting off a 30 rnd mag mono-pod is the worst, but I'm not as limber as I once was.)
