i mostly go to look rather than buy.. i always find something new and love to look this old rifle or that old wildcat revolver.
if i buy something its something neat like an old zippo, reloading die, or something like a knife where i dont have to pay tax or shipping and i get to handle it before i buy..
what does piss me off is the grumpy old gun store guy selling 2 identical guns.. one used and one new... and the used one costs more than the new one. the guns were ruger sp101s for 550 and 575
An uninformed buyer is WAY more likely to pay $1 for a crap brand than $2 for something that's reliable. Un/under-informed gun dealers: the same. Hence, a whole ton of gear that Didn't Pass Mil Spec.
A gun show without overpriced shitty gear would be like a gun show without beef jerky. It's just part of the experience.
I might look funny sitting behind a table with nothing on it! LOLQuote:
See if you can find some friends and go in together on a table at the next show. Then, you can be one of the bastards that gets a stab at the good stuff before they open the doors.
I think I'll just buy from our site sponsors and members who I feel are honest and respected in the world of fire sticks.
Which shows do you go to? I'll go to BG every now and then here in Dayton.
Its all crap. Lots of DMPS, BM, RRA etc. with the occasional $2000 Colt HBAR or some other nonsense. Most of the accessories look like the same UTG shit you'd see online that dealers order and then mark up. The worst I ever saw was Wolf 7.62x39 for $12 per 20.
BG here is mostly local dealers; its always the same people at the same booths. As of late there hasn't been much selection as far as AR's, lots of shotguns, bolt guns, and handguns.
I like to go just to look, laugh, listen to the ridiculous babble, and start an argument or two. I plan on toting my BCM down there next time I go just to see what kind of remarks I get.
I have been to the dayton show twice and i found some pretty good deals there, but that was a few years ago. I have been to the wilmington roberts center show mostly and it has gone downhill and to a columbus show just a few weeks ago which was total regurgitated shit for sale.

I am from Florida and most of the shows are not that bad in general. There are only a handful of dealers that have some high end and Class 3 stuff. The most part are small dealers with stuff that is the same as going to a Gun Store, some pistols, shotguns, and rifles. Then there are the dealers that sell just pure crap, from old car/gun magazines, cheap knives, ammo to beef jerky. But it is something to do on a Saturday or Sunday morning if you want to pick up some ammo or a pistol.
Well I saw a "non regurgitated" Colt 6721 for sale probably at that show (Westland Mall) for $1200. I fondled it of course and probably should not have walked out of there without it. I did sell my RRA ET upper for $340 though :D
Dayton show was always decent back in the mid to late nineties. I haven't been to one there in years. Wilmington Roberts was ok, but that was 2-3 years ago. I agree on the ammo, used to be a great deal, not so much anymore. I just go to Walmart like everyone else.;)
Also, I have been to one up in Berea(?) outside of Cleveland at a fairgrounds. Packed to the gills with all manner of stuff. Some crap, some good.
