I hate to be cute, but I've got both. :D
I survived the ban years with a preban Colt 6520 and a Colt 6601.
After the ban ended and prices and availability got back to normal, I bought Colt 6920's for a family of four. I have no issues with the 6920's, and can't justify selling them off to "upgrade" to midlength guns.
But during the time frame I was buying, you either went 6920, Bushmaster, or Rock River arms.
If I had to start over from scratch, I'd look hard between a DD and a BCM midlength. I'd then flip a quarter and buy which ever one was cheaper and available.
I'd get a BCM because you can get a middy.
If they both are practically equal (which they are) then go with what's cheaper. Save the money for ammo.
But do what YOU really think is best. I rather buy what I REALLY want than have a little regret down the road.
If the LMT lower your are looking at has the SOPMOD stock then it really isn't such a bad deal at all. Why not just put a nice LMT upper on it too?
it's a standard m4 stock. And i don't want an LMT because i want a mid length if i'm going to buy the upper and lower separately and LMT, as far as i know, doesn't make a mid length. If i'm going to get a carbine, i'm just going to skip the hassles of ordering separate parts...hell...skip the hassles of ordering online and just pick up a complete rifle direct from my local dealer.
With everyone here suggesting mid, i'm slowly starting to creep in that direction.
