MP 7.62 Nato 1/10 CB
Anyone running one of the lightweight stainless barrels yet? What kind of accuracy are you getting and how much are the groups opening up when the barrel heats up?

All,
I didn't want to start a whole new thread so here goes. I saw something interesting while at the range the other day. I swapped out my 16" CL barrel for my 18" CL barrel. There was a large and noticeable POI shift using plane Jane GI ball ammo (Fed XM80). The 18" barrel was shoooting really low. Air temp was typical seasonal winter temp compared to warm summer temp but I didn't really feel that that was a huge factor. Has anyone seen large POI shifts when switching barrel lengths??? I can't figure out why the 18" barrel would be shooting low......shooting high, I can understand......more barrel length, more speed, etc....
I checked the barrel carefully.....the 16" barrel has the SF warcomp on it and the 18" barrel has a SF brake on it. Again, not sure if that would be a factor. The barrel was torqued properly using the LMT pre set wrench. The scope was was not loose and is mounted in a Larue SPR 1.5 (LT120 I believe).
Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
Different barrel have different POI. No big deal. It could weigh more ? It could shoot other ammo higher than the 16 incher.
I would swop back and forth same day , same AMMO to be sure.
I wouldn't worry. Your good to go.

The grouping was similar with either barrel?
How many inches lower?
My first thought would be the harmonics between the two barrels changes POI.
Yes, group size between the 16 and 18 were the same. Bullets were hitting dirt...short of the target at 100yrds. At least 5-6 inches low. The scope in use is the NF SRV 4-14x50.
