Thanks.
I won't accept any less than an A2 style flash hider.
Not only do they reduce flash and protect the crown, they also direct the blast, which reduces the amount of dirt/sand/gravel/dust you kick-up when shooting close to the ground.
Thank you. In CT, I can't use a flash suppressor. I can, though, use the Battle Comp. I have been reading the discussions about that device and it sounds like the way to go for me.
Give the companies that I mentioned a call and see what they'll do for you. They have many customers in ban states like NY, CT, MA and they can drop ship the upper to a smith to permanently attach a muzzle brake for you.
Stay the hell away from Del-Ton. Stick with Noveske, Daniel Defense, Bravo Co., or LMT. I'd say Colt, but I know you can't own a rifle built in your state.
Don't get fancy, just get a standard service carbine, 16" hard chrome lined barrel with a flat top receiver.
Thank you. I've emailed ADCO and will call those manufacturers as well. I appreciate the input from everybody.
Bingo!
I like the A2 and have it on all my AR's. They protect the crown from damage from a fall, drop, running into a rock/boulder while out on foot, etc. It also directs the muzzle blast up and out to the sides but NOT down into the ground.
Try shooting prone in the dirt/sand without an A2 and you'll have sand/dirt giving you grief.
As said shooting in the dark you're blinded with your own muzzle flash.
If you can't have an A2 then go with what you can as it's better than nothing for sure. The BattleComp has gotten excellent reviews and would be my first choice if I couldn't have an A2.
