Here's what works for me: basic GI cleaning kit with cleaning rod guide for the breech to avoid rod flex; Ed's Red; Slip carbon killer; GI chamber brush. I currently use Slip 2000 for lube but if all I had was 3 in 1 I'd be ok with that...
I like a pull-through for initial patches of bore cleaner in the field so it can work until I get home or if cleaning has to wait an hour or two; or to oil the bore when done. I use a length of .060 nylon weedwhacker line with a knot tied in the end. I sharpen the other end slightly and poke it through a GI patch, wet it, and pull it through from the muzzle end.
Personally I think Otis and Bore Snakes are mostly marketing gimmicks. And the wild variety of cleaning products reminds me of the cosmetics industry.
