1st post, please hear me out...also am part of AR15armory.com
I've been wanting an AR for quite a while now. Never shot one. My weapon usage/ownership has been a Mossberg 500 turkey gun, a couple of .22 rifleles, a S & W 622, and a Glock 22 (which I'd like to get rid of and get a Sig 226)
With my mind wandering about the possibilities of civil unrest in my part of the woods I would like something better suited to protect my family, thus serious deliberations about an AR.
I thought that I had my mind set on Rock River or Stag (2T), as I didn't think that I would be able to afford (at least not for some time) a LMT/Noveske/BCM/Colt/Daniel Defense quality rifle.
The other day, on the Armory, someone posted that Palmetto State Arms had ARs for $599. A flat top carbine length AR. I have about half of that saved up. It would also make the wifey less resistant to the idea of spending $600 versus $1600. The only thing that I don't like about the PSA is the hand guards, as I'd like to have a quad rail system for accessories.
My question to those in the know...
Would this be a good route to go for my first AR? I thought about buying a complete uppper and lower and just putting them together, but I'm not sure I could beat PSA's price.
It seems as though PSA uses all Mil-spec pieces where they are supposed to be Mil-spec.
Should I stay away from them since they are new?
Does anyone have any experience using this company?
Sorry for such a long post, but I'd like to get some good feedback.
