Was it a big chunk? Big enough to hurt a suppressor if it flew off into the baffle stack?

Bumping this one after making an interesting observation this weekend.
I had to take a buddy's bolt gun to inlet the hardware you screw the front bipod rail section to. So we took the can off of the muzzle brake mount. This is a 20" .223 bolt gun with an M4-2000 suppressor.
Anyway, the mount was so carboned up, it looks like it has a beard. But the baffle area of the brake had ZERO erosion. Smooth and as perfect as it was brand new. Interesting to see how much that full length barrel changes the wear on the mount/can.
