is it me or does this actually sound better than the 1-8? i guess it doesn't have locking turrets... but the zero lock seems more than fine.
omg it comes with decent reticles too? goodness me.

I would have bought the 1-8 in a heartbeat if it was in any way reasonably priced. Even at $2000 this 1-6 seems far more in line with what it should be priced. That being said at 2k it's close enough to the Swarovski that I'll wait until there are some in the wild to make my decision.
Umm actually it is the same thing. In a first focal plane scope the reticle is in front of the magnification unit inside the scope like your magnifier sitting behind your Eotech. So yes the reticle appears to grow and shrink as you crank up and crank down the magnificaiton. In reality it stays the same size relative to the target. Its nothing to worry about. The down side is more of the target is covered by the reticle than you may like but the plus side is since the reticle stays the same size in relation to the target no matter what the power (in this case 1x or 3x) you can range with it.

It does magnify the reticle. It magnifies it to the point that it turns the 4 MOA dot on the Aimpoint T-1 into a rather indistinct blob. Hasn't been a problem on the 1 MOA Eotech dot, but even Eotech noted that on their model with the BDC reticle (557), the individual dots may not be distinct without that magnification.

People always complain that when using a 3x magnifier their 4 MOA dot turns into a 12 MOA dot. It doesn't. The dot is still 4 MOA, its size is still in the same proportion to the target, similar to how a FFP scope functions.
Having a diopter correction on a magnifier is a welcomed addition IMO.
That and no ARMS mount....
