Mid-Length gas system "More reliable" than Carbine Length gas system?!?!
Over the last 6 - 9 months I have seen several people make the comment that the Mid-Length gas system was "more reliable" than the Carbine-Lenght gas system.
A little background on me. I am very familiar with the rifle length, mid length, and carbine length gas systems. I have owned 10+ 16" barreled mid-lenght carbines over the last 5 or so years and was a big fan of the mid-lenght before they were as popular as they are today.
I have also owned dozens of AR15's with carbine length gas systems with both 14.5" and 16" barrels over the last decade and a half. I shoot on average 10,000 rounds of .223 / 5.56 a year and attend 2 - 4 carbine classes a year.
Both systems have proved to be extreemly reliable. And I couldn't say that one gas system is more reliable than the other.
The www.thefreedictionary.com define's the word "reliable" as:
re·li·a·ble (r-l-bl)
adj.
1. Capable of being relied on; dependable: a reliable assistant; a reliable car.
2. Yielding the same or compatible results in different clinical experiments or statistical trials.
How is the mid-length gas system "more reliable" than the carbine length gas system?
