These problems are very easily solvable.

You can use RTV silicon to mod your charging handle into a Gas Buster like handle, or drill small ports into either side of the CH body.

And if you take a standard barrel (DD 16.1'' CAR Gas = .058'' port) and have it cut (10.3-11.5), and just not have the port worked on, you should have (close to if not exact) a gun specifically tuned(ported) for a suppressor. No gas in face, no extra recoil, no extra decibels, etc.

IMHO, a gun shouldn't be run suppressed unless it's tuned for it.

Me, Eurodriver, and Grant can all attest to that.

To add a bit from my experience- running an 11.5" bushy LE upper with YHM can, two day class. First day, no problems, 500 rounds. Quick-cleaned just the BCG that night. Day two, around 100 rounds for the day, started to get failures to go into battery and a couple of failures to feed. Problem was the amount of grime in the receiver extension. A quick wipe of the spring and the inside of the RE that I could get to on a five minute break got it back up and running. I just wished I'd done that the night before...

Side note, myself and a couple other guys were impressed with how easily the YHM can came off at the end of each day. One guy even said the reason he didn't run his Surefire can for the class is because it gets carbon-welded on after just a couple hundred rounds.

I wouldn't disagree with any of that - I'm just waiting to be back CONUS so I can actually assemble my 10.5" Dedicated Reflex double stamper. Still, on the issue side, it needs to run with both, and it's not rocket science that poor quality stuff isn't as versatile.

It seems that we agree. %100.

BTW: I'm not Mil or anything, what does CONUS stand for?

I'm running one of the new Daniel Defense Mk18 10.3" Sbrs with an AAC mini4.

I havent run a class yet, but I've done several days at the range with my shooting buddies totaling probably 400-500 rounds per day with it, and the only issue I have so far is major gas blow back, and the surpressor getting so hot it literally changed color.

at what point should I seriously consider getting a gas regulator on this rifle? especially since its a full boat factory built SBR?

I have done the silicone but I would love to see what you mean about the ports.
