Recommendations for wind resistant shade tarp for camping

I need a shade tarp for camping in Big Bend, Tx. where the wind can be fairly strong. I don't care about price if it's quality gear that will last. Please offer advice only if your gear is wind tested. Thanks.

Are you car camping, going on a float trip, or humping it in a pack? The reason I ask is due to weight differences.

If you are going to be carrying it on your back, I would suggest a silnylon tarp. Very lightweight and durable. You'll want to save as much weight as you can, to carry more water.

If weight is not an issue, then a coated tarp like these would work well.

    Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'll be remote camping via vehicle so weight isn't an issue. I'm looking for something like this;

I'll be out there for a week and need something that provides shade at base camp.

They have what your looking for at WM for under $100.
I use one while shooting in the summer. Easy up, easy down.

the kelty noah tarps are pretty good light and hold up well

another partial shade is just plane shade cloth

    use grommets

use poles like in the kelty pic for the shade cloth ? again depends if you want full shade or partial

another great thing is to use shade cloth as a vertical wind break very common in South Africa camping example here

just use poles and guy ropes on both sides makes nice privacy fence and keeps wind down big time and great shade on the sun side

a lapa and wing setup like a kelty make a pretty killer setup that packs smaller than the pop up roof things holds up to wind etc..

I think the pop up roof things are cool but they are big and heavy and in the wind are not as sturdy IMHO

I do a lot of off road camping

pic of the underside of my trailer setup

    another shot of the setup

you can see when the sun angles it can really create a ton more shade
