WOW.That is a really nice gift. Enjoy the memories and, if possible, get out there and sling a little lead with the old man. Maybe you guys could go to the range and take that sako on its maiden voyage! Any idea what he paid for that new?

I LOVE the iron sights, those look like they would be fun to shoot.

You Sir, are a lucky man! A Sako rifle made in the 60's? Sako quality at it's highest, No MIM parts.. That rifle is begging to be shot, that's what it was made for, Hell, Take it hunting, that's what it was REALLY made for..

That is a beautiful piece! Glad you have a treasured memory. My 1st deer rifle has already been handed down to my son, although he has never shot it since I bought him a new 1 this year.

i'm still stunned by the beauty of this rifle. i'm hoping the op signs back on and tells a little more of his plans for the rifle and perhaps what the original price was.

That's an amazingly good looking rifle there, and as others have all ready said, one hell of a gift.
You are pretty much mandated by the ethical code of the firearms enthusiast to remove that "never been fired" tag from it, I think, preferably either into a game animal of your choice or into one large ragged hole on a target.
I seriously cannot get over how nice looking it is, I really cannot. I wish bolt actions like that where easy to find nowadays. There is something very alluring about a well made wood stocked bolt action gun, even in this day and age of polymer components and semi-autos guns. I'm not 100% sure what causes it, but I know many others feel the same way. I'm sure someone else can phrase what I am trying to convey better then I can, but I am sure you get the general idea of what I am trying to say.
