took my daughter on a hog hunt

She's 5, her big brothers go all the time but this was her first ever time out and she did great!

I decided to take it easy on her and so we hunted out of the beast, put out some corn at road crossings.. about 30 minutes in nature called and I crawled out of the back (elevated seats behind the cab of a 87 4runner wth no top) and all of a sudden she says "daddy, there's a big hog!"

sure enough, about 80 yards out there was a nice boar, snuck around to the front of the truck with the rifle, set the cam up and wacked it.
I usually hog hunt with my 6.8 AR but this time out had my "deer" rifle, a Nosler 280 Ackely with 140 ABs.

It was a nice sized boar..
My daughter was a trooper, proud dad moment!

That was a great shot, your daughter sure is cute with those zebra stripe boots on!

Nice rifle too, I would feel plenty confident with that in the field.

Good to see getting them started young & learning that their food doesn't come in a happy meal box.

Awsome. Not just because you are teaching the younger generation about hunting/shooting. You are teaching a daughter. Girls miss out on a lot of the cool stuff.
