    New setup. DD LW Recce

In anticipation of the arrival of my DD MK18, I started shopping for scopes for my 16" to give it more of a recce role. I found a good deal on a used Nightforce 2.5-10x24 w/Larue SPR1.5 over on Snipershide. When I received it, both the scope and mount had been painted. Last night, while my wife and I were watching some NCIS re-runs I decided to see what I could do about getting the paint off. Here's what the scope looked like before:

Here's what it looks like now:

The scope/mount is a lot heavier than my T1 for sure, but not that much heavier than when I was running it with a 3X magnifier behind it. Of course after putting it together last night, I really can't wait to get out and shoot it.

    SPECS:
    DD CHF LW 16" mid-gas
    DD 14.0 Lite rail
    DD BCG
    BCM Gunfighter CH
    DD Lower
    LMT Sopmod stock & tube
    Noveske QD end plate
    Padded VTAC sling
    KAC 200-600 rear
    KAC 99051 front
    Danger Close Consulting handstop
    Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x24, Illuminated NP-1
    Larue SPR1.5 (LT104)

Looks very nice. Interested to see how it shoots.

If you don't mine me asking, when you say you got a good deal on the NF, do you mind telling us what you got it for?

Of course a true RECCE would have a SS barrel.

I wouldn't call it a Recce at all, since it lacks an accurized barrel.

It's a good general-purpose rifle. Nothing wrong with that.

Only @ the local indoor 25yd range, so not much to report. I'd be kinda pissed if it didn't shoot one hole @ that distance. I will say this was fun for me: I've been playing with how to use the NP-1 reticle for holds, and I determined that the substentions are 5MOA. I shot the first group and then used the reticle to measure how low it was. It was 10 MOA low, so I dialed 10 MOA on the scope and put the next 3 round through the center bull.

The closest long distance range (100-700yds) is 2 hrs away, but hopefully I can get out there in the next month and take this thing through some paces.

The more I handle it the more I like it!
