Really though, how often do LPK parts fail?

Is it more about the ease of installation and proper alignment of parts more so than something actually breaking in them down the road?
Fail as in break? Parts do break, but I do not think it is all the common.

What is common is gritty, too soft or too hard selectors. Bolt catches that don't always hold the bolt open (as they have too much play in them or don't move freely). FCG's that go FA, shoot out the first stage, pins walking or weak springs.

For me, it is about feel. Is everything smooth, have the proper amount of pressure, rotate cleanly and break crisply.

    YMMV.

I can't find any LPK's in stock anywhere except this one:

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR-15...20-%20semi.htm

I realize STAG is not a "top tier" manufcturer per rob_s's chart, but would their LPK be acceptable to use as emergency spares?

(I also found a DPMS parts kit in stock, but I wouldn't touch a DPMS product with a ten-foot pole).

I don't have any experience with the Stag LPK's, but from my research they are GTG.

I jumped on that sucker. I never heard of that vendor and every other place I tried was out of stock so that's a great help to me!

I noticed it's only $22 more than the DPMS kit. Quality for $22 more than crap. Imagine that.

Just put it this way. Which ever manufacture you go with just remember they didn't make the hammer's and triggers and maybe most other parts

I've been assembling my spare parts kit and realized I didn't have enough lower parts to guarantee a fix should something fail.

Like you I looked everywhere and couldn't find a complete top tier LPK so I went with the stag kit from Rainer- IMO as an emergency backup it'll suffice. Now if I were doing a build, I'd just wait for
one of grant's kits (something I may pick up anyway).

Still wish my google fu had conjured the link for the DD. Better to have and not need...

    No.
But they require certain specifications, QC, and certifications.

I haven't had many problems with LPKs, so my philosophy is to focus on quality on the parts I operate the most, aside from the trigger, the selector and the bolt catch for me. So, that's why I am waiting for G&R to get LPKs back in stock, since Grant's kits use LMT selectors and catches.
I have had issues with LPKs (DPMS coming up with new 'features' - no bueno, and an RRA trigger that went so a soft single stage.

BCM, LMT, and DD have been the best for me outside of the 4 G&R's... I still prefer the G&Rs anyway.
