Just use a stencil and a Sharpie
May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't.
I just use a gray sharpie on my black pmags. Good contrast, easy to see, easy to apply, stays put.
I think spray paint and stencils would be a lot more difficult and messy with no added benefit.
Another option to consider.
I mark my Pmags with number IDs with a soldering iron. Just deep enough to be cosmetic. Couple bucks at your local Radio Shack, home Depot, WalMart, etc., and it will never run out of paint. And you can stipple your Glock while youre at it..
I believe paint marking systems will probably hold up just fine over time. But I KNOW for a fact that my numbers are NEVER coming off that mag.
I was reading a "how to" on another forum about painting one's AR and this person suggested Aervoe camo paint for the painting of a carbine. It may or may not pertain to marking your PMAGs or USGI mags but here you go........

I used the Krylon camo series. On FDE mags I used OD Green paint and a set of 1" brass stencils.

I just grabbed some Tester's modeling spray paint from the local hobby shop. Seems to work fine.
I etch them with a Dremel and write with Sharpie. When the Sharpie wears off, I can still see the etching, and reapply the sharpie which is easier to see at a glance.
Never heard of a paint pen till this thread. I found them thru Google, but how long do they last once you open them? Can you use them on a couple of mags, then expect it to still work a few months later when you buy new mags?

Aervoe… It is a bit more durable than Krylon, also their colors are more true. Good stuff, I've done 5 or 6 rifles as well as a couple handguns and suppressors with it so far.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe
