Yet another prepper "reality" TV show. . .

So today on Animal Planet, yes that's correct I said Animal Planet (a subsidiary of the Discovery network) there was a show that debuted entitled Meet the Preppers. The show is centered on a family in Utah. Now your guess is good as mine as to why Animal Planet would have a show about preppers. I watched the episode and the only animal featured was a hog that got slaughtered and processed.

What is of interest to me is that this is the THIRD network "reality" TV show whose central theme is prepping. First there was Nat Geo's Doomsday Preppers, then there was Discovery's Doomsday Bunkers, and now Animal Planet's Meet The Preppers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining Lord knows there could be worse subject matter for the networks to brainwash the masses with however I hold them all suspect at this point.

Edit: One of the father's buddies who was a kidnaping "expert" that was involved in several different scenes had a different color shemagh on in every scene and a paracord "survival" bracelet, I wanted to give him a nudge and say “pssst hey buddy. . .YOU’RE TRYING TO HARD!”

I expect this to be a growing trend with TV networks. There's money to be made on this stuff. Plus the hidden agenda of making preppers seem like lunatics to the masses.

Pretty soon the Kardashians are gonna be filming their hoe-bag lifestyles from a retired military bomb shelter. "Kim meets Kenny the buck toothed varmint" should be out soon.

I started to watch this series but soon realized it was simply more "sons of dumb" drama and did not even finish the first show and then deleted my timers for same.

I swear I'm about to permanently attach my palm to my face! This asshatery has got to stop at some point. The people that keep volunteering to be filmed, have me wondering if they aren't paid fed actors, there just to make "preppers" look absolutely silly.
    Words from a wise man:

People often believe that it is better to NOT learn from someone more experienced than them BECAUSE there might me a SMALL chance that they could find a better option on their own.

How can someone believe the above? Simple. Ego. They believe in the bottom of their soul that they are the "best" at everything (even though they are brand new to something).

For some time now (after certain DOJ pamphlets were circulated) and now the onslaught by the "educational" TV networks of prepper themed shows I have no dought our lifestyle is under attack here in the home of the brave and land of the free. . .

This trend of "prepper" shows has had my radar up lately as well and for the most part it makes a mockery out of the subject.

I imagine if I was in the towing or repo business Lizard Lick Towing would probably piss me off too.

I watch the prepper shows for a good laugh though. Just when you think one of these people or groups might have their shit together one of them pulls out their home made self defense bow and arrow. Not to mention the fact that they're exposing themself, they're contigency plans, tactics, storage, supplies and weaponry to the world.

I welcome these kinds of shows. Imagine this, a whole herd of average americans seeing this show, becoming interested in prepping, going out and buying tons of gear, then losing interest after a while.
At that point, the true preparedeness oriented people, such as myself, will have a chance to snag up all this barely used gear and supplies, for pennies.
The same thing happened during the Y2K crap. I got a new Honda generator for 125, and a bunch of MRE's for 20 bucks a case.
I say bring on all the junk TV.

OTOH, these shows are getting the idea of preparedness out to the general public, which might:

    1. Get the general public to think of preppers as "tolerable eccentrics" rather than as militia-survivalist-seditionist-insurgent scary, dangerous, evil people; and

    2. Get the government thinking the same way, rather than as
anti-government militia-survivalist-seditionist-insurgent hoarders who are dangerous, evil people who need to be locked-up and/or terminated.

The new show truly shows how prepper crazy some of the people are, but if their is a market for the network to make $$$ on it I am sure they will keep popping up.
