I am more than willing to buy a barrel nut wrench and I am very mechanically inclined. I have had the rail off several times so far.
At this point it is fixed, but not really. I placed a .0005 brass sheet between the spacer and the bottom of the nut and that tightened everything up. So either the rail is slightly oversized on the engagement teeth or the barrel nut teeth are to small. At this point I'm leaning to the rail, because I heard a rumor that sone of this exact model rail where loose. But I have a barrel nut on order.
Grant- if you think I can send it to colt and have it back in a resonance amount of time I will. You deal more with them in a week than I will in my life. I will trust your opinion. But if that true why did the quote me so long a wait?
Is this rail the MRF-C (two piece FF with a locking screw at the 6 position)? If so, and it is spinning, then there is a part missing.

Got any pics of the bottom of the rail??

This is an excellent gun (made a good choice), but I would suggest always sticking with the packages that COLT puts together (not TALO).

Colt knows THEIR guns and THEIR packages (not someone elses).

The rail is the mrf 2 piece. All screws are tight. It is actually 3 parts. The upper rail, lower rail, and a spacer that hooks around the bottom of the barrel nut that both the upper and lower attach to. The upper section hooks to it with 4 screws and the lower with one.
I just left the house for a week on the road but I can see if the old lady can break it out and take some pictures.
Sorry, I come from the world of long range. Forgive my ignorance.

Ok, then that is the MRF-C. There is most likely a part missing or the bottom screw is not indexing right (as that is the part that keeps it from turning).

So you don't need a wrench or a new barrel nut (FYI).

Troy just responded. They are sending a new part out to fix the problem. I would like to say thank you to troy for the quick response(they responded Wed) and cant wait to swa it out.

I shot the rifle today and with my .005 shim in I printed several groups with BH match ammo that are impressive. The gun has around 400 to 500 rounds thru it without a problem except the rail. apparently the clamp is slightly oversized for a barrel nut that is in the lower tolerance range(but still in spec). Big thanks to troy.

I'll post any news here after the clamp get here.

So Troy sent a new clamp. The clamp is to tall for the rail. The bottom section won't drop in. So I contacted Troy and am sending the rail back to them. They asked what I wanted to replace it and I'm going with a alpha rail. I'll report back after I get the rail in and anything they have to say about the old one. Great service from Troy.

And I still am awaiting my barrel nut. If someone knows where to get a barrel nut quick let me know.

    Update.

Troy sent out a Alpha for me pretty quickly. It actually got to my house 3 weeks ago. I was unfortunately on the road for a month and just got back. Install was easy. Fits great. even matches the colts color. The extra length feels great and it feels lighter than the MRF. I also like that the front sight is 3" farther forward. I'll go shoot the shit out of it this week.

anybody got some simple drills I can run on the squar range? I got 50 yards out to 300 but can't do any move and shoot stuff. Range rules.
