I like the rifle. Its set up pretty much how I wanted. I will clarify that I am not happy about the rail issue and colt gets a big negative in the CS department from me if I send it off and it's gone do 6 months.
If someone wants to send me there email I'll send em pics.
While I am not familiar with this rail, the question I have is why can't people just tighten the screws or un-install/re-install them? It can't be that hard.

One other thought is to call Troy and have them look at it. Get their CS people on the phone, explain the issue and that Colt installed the rail.

Edited to add that Rob stated on page 1 that he has tightened these up. So it really isn't that big a deal. The employees at Colt most likely aren't familiar with the design and just didn't tighten down the little screws. This is a user installable rail so there should be NO REASON why you cannot fix it yourself.

+100, who, knows who else to call. It just seems it should get resolved sooner than later. Grant says most issues get resolved in a few weeks. I trust what he says.

He already said the screws are tight. It seems to be a barrel nut issue and I for one don't think someone new to ar's should be messing with a front sight base removal, forearm removal, barrel nut removal then reinstalling and putting it back together not to mention the cost for the tools to do such actions

Here is where he said it

If that is the case, simply remove the rail, remove the gas tube (NOT the FSB) and tighten down the barrel nut (if in fact loose). Then, re-install the gas tube and rail.

I have taken apart hundreds of Colt's AR's. To date, I have never found one with a loose barrel nut. Not that it can't happen, but I would guess that this is not the issue.

So the forearm is two piece. Does the op have a barrel nut wrench, If I remember he said he took it a friend who verified the bn was tight. Grant I know you have taken apart many colts but I guarantee that the op and me and many others combined haven't. I just don't think dicking around with it and running the risk of further problems and possible revocation of his warranty should be an option.

I am assuming it is a two piece rail (Robb can help with this).

The OP would need a barrel nut wrench. If he doesn't have one, this is a good purchase for ANYONE that is into AR's. If not, take it to a local AR Armorer.

Do you think he should have to pay more money to have someone fix something that came out the box messed up. I agree he should buy a bn wrench.if this was olympic arms I'd say oh well you get what ou pay for but the colt should be ready out the box just lubing it, not buying wrenches and hunting down armors to rectify a problem he didn't cause. Maybe I am wrong but isn't the saying buy cheap buy twice, it seems to me that buying a colt isn't so smart as of right now. First they show up at Walmart and now you have to wait 1/4-1/2 a year to get it fixed. No thank you. BCM is what I have experience with along with my first purchased ar (bushmaster) and I will say I know that Paul at bravo will treat you better than that, they are a pleasure to deal with and so is grant at g&r, but if Paul told me it would be that long and to pound sand or fix it myself if that wasn't acceptable I'd move to LMT or dd. just my opinion.

The barrel nut is tight. All 5 Allen screws are tight. The rail is intact 3 parts. Top half, bottom half, and a spacer that connects the two and presses against the bottom of the barrel nut.
I am more than willing to buy a barrel nut wrench and I am very mechanically inclined. I have had the rail off several times so far.
At this point it is fixed, but not really. I placed a .0005 brass sheet between the spacer and the bottom of the nut and that tightened everything up. So either the rail is slightly oversized on the engagement teeth or the barrel nut teeth are to small. At this point I'm leaning to the rail, because I heard a rumor that sone of this exact model rail where loose. But I have a barrel nut on order.
Grant- if you think I can send it to colt and have it back in a resonance amount of time I will. You deal more with them in a week than I will in my life. I will trust your opinion. But if that true why did the quote me so long a wait?
Sorry, I come from the world of long range. Forgive my ignorance.

Also at this point my next AR will be BCM or DD. DD m4v7lw is what I wanted anyways. But I got this for several hundred less new in box. Should have just ordered a dd.
