    Corbon DPX 95 Gr. 9mm

    Dear DocGKR,

I was wanting to get your opinions on the Corbon 95 Gr 9mm DPX round.

I can't find much info on it, but Chuck Taylor states he carries it in his Glock 17 and Corbons Mike Shovel says it will penetrate more than the +P 115 Gr. DPX round when both are fired from the same gun. Still, 95 Gr seems awfully light for 9mm IMO, but conventional bullet dynamics may not really apply with this being a Copper Bullet. I'm no expert on these matters, so I defer to you.

Thank you very much for your time,
    DWW

Things that make me go On several levels, some of which I wont get into in public.

I guess if the 95gr DPX has little expansion maybe it can penetrate as much as a bullet with more mass.

    Still, I'm

The Barnes 115 gr XPB/Tac-XP all copper JHP bullet works quite well and would be a good choice since if offers acceptable penetration for all the standard FBI test protocols. Both Asym and Black Hills produce good 9 mm loadings using the 115 gr Barnes bullet.

I have shot 10 rds of the Corbon 9mm 95gr DPX and 10rds of Magtech First Defense 9mm 92.6gr SCHP from my 2nd Gen Glock-17 into my water box and found that the copper pedals folded back tightly against the body reducing diameter which of course will increase penetration.

The 95gr DPX also had a petal shear off with three rounds out of ten fired.

Those light weigh slugs are moving and I will up-date my response with some velocity numbers once I locate my Chrono log book.
