Is it just me, or does it seem like the KAC has more features for the price? I found one mod 0 NIB for $1899, and it seems like the MRP is the same price.

I don't think ill ever be barrel swapping, so wouldn't a $1400 6940 do the job just the same as the MRP?

in my opinion yes. when i was looking at a 308 ar, i chose the lmt mwse, because of the barrel swapping. i wanted to be able to swap calibers and lengths. that was the only reason i bought a more expensive ar over the others.

I have the MWS and love it, but I haven't switched a barrel once. I got it when it came out because in my opinion it was the first .308 ar done right besides the SR25.

There is a lot to be said for a true monolithic platform. Not only added stiffness and NO chance of a rail breaking, but you can mount optics anywhere. I actually wonder why KAC doesn't go monolithic.

    ^^^completely agree.

Many people don't understand that the monolithic one piece chassis on a MRP is only one part of the equation that makes them one of a kind. The second half of the equation is the barrel capturing design, and that's the part that directly relates to the MRP's superior heat dissipation, rigidity, repeatability, and lack of barrel flex/whip.

The whole barrel swapping aspect leads to many folks "not seeing the forest for the trees."

    I can guess two things:

    Cost.

    Military contracts.

BUT. If they made a monolithic upper, that didn't have brass deflector or bolt assist, had the integrated 600m micro rear, with no integrated front sight.

I'd be on it. Especially if it used a 10 3/4'' slick rail.

It'd be worth whatever they charged for it.

Call me crazy but I don't really like colt. I might buy a 6920 just to keep as a cheaper backup but if I have it my way it will be zeroed and left alone.
