To me I'd just be thinking of the weight of both the platforms. The SR-15 is pretty well balanced and very light. I may be mistaken but isn't the MRP a quick detach barrel? if so are you even going to utilize the feature? some might say, "who cares it looks cool!"... and that's a good enough answer in this case imho.
Then again, you could just hybrid as seen in this thread! hah![]()

I have a few of the mrp's in 10.5 and 16in di's as well as the 12.5 piston. I love them all but the 10.5 is the creme of the crop, to me anyways. Shoots very soft, accurate and is completely portable in my go bag. If it matters to you, you can change the barrel out in no time. I changed mine in about 2 minutes at the house the other day before going to the range. Loosen one nut, take the other out, change the barrel and go the other way. I have the LMT's as well as several other Colts. If I had to get rid of everything but one, I would keep the 10.5 over all of them. I have not had the luxury of using the Knights before and have lusted over them off and on for a time but do not see what it would offer me over what I have right now. I would still love to give one a try though.

Yes, reviving an older thread. Anyone ever taken Tridents example one step farther, and converted an SR15 upper over to work in the MRP chassis?
take the SR15 upper apart, sell the receiver and rail, send the barrel to DBMG and have it converted to MRP; install the E3 BCG and barrel assembly into the MRP upper and drop it on the SR15 lower.

It's my understanding that the LMT CQB MRP barrel assemblies were proprietary to the system (as you indicate). Anything is possible I'm sure, but it's just not sounding so easily done or efficient. Why not just get a light-weight CHF from the get-go before having such work done? ? Moreover you'd have to keep the KAC bolt if you did the KAC rout...

It costs about $150 to convert a barrel to be used in the MRP. The reasoning is bringing the best of both together; the great SR15 lower, E3 bolt and KAC gas system into a monolithic upper with easy change barrels. Yes the bolt would match the barrel; personally all my barrels have matching bolts so I don't see an issue. Why not go the route of the LW CHF from the start is simple; I've already got an SR15.
