Super Sniper (or other) scope advice needed

Looks like they stopped making the older (and inexpensive) 2FP 3-9X Super Sniper scopes in favor of the FFP version. Too bad.

Reason I'm asking: I was going to put one on a DMR-type M14. The max range I would be using it at would probably be 300 yards.

Any other non-crap scope in the old SS price catagory? Or would I be better off just paying the extra $300 for the FFP SS? I'm trying to keep costs down, but I do want a capable scope, and the rifle itself will have some money put into it.

They still make the 2FP SS in 10X; would that be "correct" for DMR-type usage? Or would the 10X work too? I thought variable magnification was called for in this role, but I could be mistaken. I'd appreciate any insights you gents might have.

    Few questions:

Do you plan on changing magnification all that much?
    - If not, go fixed power.
    - If so, variable

Will you be ranging with this optic or mostly shooting at known distances on a square range, or using a laser range finder?
    - If using for ranging, go with the FFP
    - If not going to range with the reticle, go with SFP

I prefer matching turrets and reticle (mil/mil) but moa/moa is fine too. As long as they match. Makes adjustments much easier.

The new fixed power SWFA SS's have the new reticle that is really nice. I have one of the 5-20 FFPs and it is nothing less than fantastic.
Check over on SnipersHide in the Optics section.. SWFA is running a promo for $30 off the SS line if they get enough likes on Facebook. They are at 2700 likes right now so that's $30 off the Mildot Classics and the 10x Quad Reticle (nice).

You may be able to find older SS scopes for sale in equipment exchanges.

That said, your M14 is notorious for beating the snot out of scopes. The newer SS 3x9 is, by all accounts, an absolutely fantastic scope that would serve well in the role.

That said, they are coming out with both a fixed 6x and 10x in your price point that would serve you very well.

If your mil/le get a leupold 40% off, if not check the sample list. I ran a Horuse vision Hawk on my M14 for 3 years it was great.

Will these be in the MRAD line?

I've got the 10X SS MOA for another rifle. I might try the 6X for the M14; it might fit the bill for 300 and under, but still stretch out to 600 if needed.

If I recall, the SS scopes have over 120 MOA of adjustment, so I don't think you'll have a problem running out. It's just a matter of clearly seeing the target.

I've had zero issues with my SWFS SS10x42mm http://www.snipercentral.com/ss1042.phtml on my Remington 700 SPS TAC in .223 out to 330 yards so far. Mine is on a 0 MOA TPS base and TPS "TSR" low rings. Great price good features, clear glass.... did get the sunshade for mine recently.

I was just looking at those new models on the SWFA website. Why the different prices for the new models? For instance they have two 10X42 scopes in the new Mil-quad line; one is $299 and one is $799. What is the difference?
