You're absolutely right, I don't have proof. I can only refer the thread where another member broke his upper trying to remove the barrel nut, but that was most likely attributed to not using the correct type of upper receiver vice block.

I agree, no one gets the benefit of the doubt, but just because he can't break the barrel nut loose does not mean he does have the proper tools or knowledge to do the job. Have you never come across a front sight post taper pin that you thought you'd never get out? Or a fastener that someone was a little over-zealous with locktite on? Shit happens.

As a mechanic, I can assure you that any given nut or bolt that is torqued and subjected to heat and shock, will require much more torque to loosen/remove than the original spec, double that again if any type of thread locker is used.

I just put together three PSA rifle kits. Similar to the OP, I changed out the hand guards and shaved the front sight posts. I had no trouble with the taper pins, but one of the barrel nuts was WAY over torqued. I had to apply heat to get it off. In addition, one of he kits was missing the disconnector. I called PSA several times with no luck. PSA has yet to return my call.

I, too, received a kit that was missing a disconnector. I called PSA and left one message. They took a day or so to reply, but that reply was a phone call apologizing for the oversight and making arrangements to send me a disconnector. Problem solved in a reasonable way. Since then I have done business with PSA several more times and everything has been just fine.
