SBU and rollover prone seem to give our folks fits, as well as supine in many cases. This is especially true, for the first two at least, when we actually put super-low cover out there and make them shoot under it.

i have used the new tr 24 in sbu, rollover and supine and modifed sbu and more without issue the cost of the new scope is going to be about 750 ish or so through midway
I'm thinking about getting a S&B Short Dot, but can't decide between the two basic models.
The standard 1-4x20mm Short Dot has a FFP reticle that virtually disappears at 1X, but is useable at 4X. However, the flash dot is about 6MOA at 4X, and most people use it only at low power. You can get the CQB reticle, which has some 1 mil markings on the elevation and windage axis for holdovers and possibly ranging (seems kind of small for that purpose to me).
The Zenith 1-4x24mm Short Dot LE has a SFP flash dot #2 or #7 reticle. The dot is ~6MOA at 1x and ~1.6MOA at 4X, potentially making is useable at all magnifications. However, you can see the #2 or #7 reticle at 1X and there is no ranging since they are post and line or modified duplex type reticles. Frankly, I don't expect to shoot anything at less than 20 yards (a coyote that surprises me, for example) and am leaning toward the Zenith.
I think most people mean the standard Short Dot when they talk about this scope, and few discuss the SFP Zenith LE model.
Has anyone compared these scopes side by side and looked through them carefully?

Another inexpensive alternative:
Bushnell Elite 4200 1.25-4x24, see here:
http://www.bushnell.com/general/rifl...0_42-1424m.cfm
It's a German three-prong reticle with an illuminated dot.
Has anybody tried one of these, or seen one in the flesh?
Bushnell's 4200 series seems well regarded, and they retail for well under $400.
I don't want to be a cheapskate and get a Millett DMS, but I don't want to spend over $500 on an Accupoint, either. Maybe this Bushnell is the Goldilocks solution...
Bimmer
Having shot extensively with both, I prefer the Zenith LE Short Dot.
Since the reticle/dot is in the 2nd focal plane, allows it to be utilized much better out to longer ranges.
The fact that it does not have ranging capability in the reticle is no a non-issue for me.
Has anybody seen these?
Hey guys, just got back from Iraq. And as we all know our Gun Rights are next after the economy gets a little better so I had to get an M4 style gun. From Cal, now stationed in Hawaii but that's all up for another forum discussion(the laws that is).
So I actually got an S&W M&P Tactical. My LWRC is on a 3 to 6 month back list. Hope it gets here in time. I am with the 2nd Bde "Stryker" Team as an Infantry Squad Ldr. Had a 16 year break in service(knee injury). I know I am crazy.
I did shoot at "targets" at about 20 meters. I also dropped a moving "target" at what was later determined to be about 550 meters. The Bad Guys carried said target off the "range" if you will. All with a 4X ACOG. Unfortunately their sniper did succeed in his mission. One of our greatest kids is no longer with us.
Having said all that I am looking for the shortest, relatively not horrifically expensive and durable 1X4 power scope for the next deployment. May be soon as I volunteered to go back with our 3rd Bde. 9 to 10 inches is as long as I want. I am issued an ACOG so I have that as a back up.
Looked and like the Millet DMS, Konus M30, and Leupold MK 4 1X3 CQ/T or MK 4 MR/T M2. I will take one of these with me. I tried making sense of the 800 postings but cannot. Any shooters out there that have used any of these in the Sandbox would be of great help. Thanks so much for any info.
"RANGERS LEAD THE WAY"

Stick with the ACOG.
For 1-4's the S&B rules the roost.
the NF is okay, but has some failings.
I would not run anything else with my life on the line.
On the Short Dot versus the Zenith Flash Dot. I have a Short Dot and access to a Flash Dot at work.
To me its no comparison to the two, the Short Dot is a vastly superior combat scope.
