I agree with the above regarding the Trijicon TR24. I personally think it is as good as it gets for a 0-300yd variable optic all things considered. 0-200yds it is even better!

Out past 300yds things get a bit sketchy. I have been able to make decent hits on a IDPA target @ 600yds with my TR24G, but it took a lot of time and effort.

A friend of mine just got back from the Larue match and his TR24 was difficult for him to use on the targets past 300 due to the scope having no BDC.
Shot the same match and having shot a match or two by the same match director previously, I found out that weakness of the TR24 and that floating the triangle to estimate MOA holdoff is too slow and not accurate enough. Between that and the TR24 having bad zero shift between 1X and 4X and still at Trijicon getting looked at, I'm glad I spent the money on the SS.......

The SS worked like a charm for me on 1X (non-illuminated) in the bright sun, as well as 4X on the 100-485y target stage.

I have been running my TR24G for 2 years now and I have never experienced or heard of anyone else experiencing the zero shift as you have described above.

I have read more posts recently about problems with the TR24s. I don't know if it's a bad run that got out into the world or just lots of repeated material.

How did you make the hits at 600? Holding or dialing?

Holding. Approx 90" over my desired point of impact. (I run a 100yd zero). I was only able to hold about a 15" group (10rd) group together.

I really wish the turrets were slightly improved. I like capped/locking turrets for hard use guns. Something always being shot from a static posistion, exposed are awesome.

With the 1/4 moa turrets under the caps, I suppose that would be a lot to try to adjust for, espically w/o some type of zero stop or reference. I forget what one revolution on the turret will get you.

Have you ever tried different zero ranges? Do you shoot 600 yards that often?

    Ok.

Waiting on Trijicon to finish working on it to find out what is wrong with it. I can assure it isn't the user since I don't have a problem like that with the SS.

It is on my duty gun and I prefer a 100yd zero for my work. I just joined a local gun club that has a 600yd range and it was the first time I have been able to shoot at anywhere near that distance. I just wanted to see if I could even hit at 600.

I think one full rotation on the TR24's knobs will only give a total of 24".

I'm a pretty big fan of 100 yards zeros myself.

I couldn't remember how much you could dial in one turn. If they were graduated a little better I would feel comfortable dialing past one revolution. If Trijicon put a little work into it, they would have one badass scope.

But still, for the money, its very hard to beat a TR24.

The SS is going thru it's issues right now with battery cap problems (SWFA is now sending out replacements) and black specs inside the optics (typical of asian built optics). While many on TOS sight have hailed this scope as the next coming, only time will tell.
