    Yes.

I don't target/bench rest shoot it, and I will rarely if ever shoot beyond a few hundred yards at most. The triangle reticle should be very good for my uses, and 4x is enough magnification.

A tri-illumination that adds a battery powered auxiliary option in a clean, fluid, manner...without screwing up the fiber optic or tritium methods...would be more along the lines of what would make me, personally, want something new over what I just got.

I haven't mounted my TR24G to my rifle yet (larue spr-e lt-139 to arrive shortly) but just looking through it around the house and backyard in daylight, darkness, overcast, dusk, and everything in between, I think it will work very well. In the few scenarios where the reticle goes black it is still extremely usable. And in the majority of situations that triangle was a nice, visible, eye-grabbing green. (had an Aimpoint PRO, but my eyes didn't agree with it, comet tail, bunch of grapes, ball of yard, whatever)

FYI. The U.S. Optics 1-4 series has been discontinued.

As long as it doesn't weight 3 lbs, it may be viable.

I was just about to pose the same question:

With all the -6 and -8 variables coming out, is the -4 "obsolete"?

Yes and no. If you want the best yes their obsolete. But they can be had cheaper and will still serve most peoples needs quite well and they are more compact generally.

Do the -6 and -8 optics have as much eye relief as the -4's? Same size exit pupil? Size/price differences, of course.

And isn't it a little early to proclaim scopes that aren't even truly available yet to be superior that which is proven?

For not being truly available there are a lot of Swarovski Z6i's dominating three gun. The Vortex 1-6 is also getting very popular. There is also the Bushnell 1-6.5 that has a following. Leupolds 1-6 is also interesting. Owning both 1-4 and 1-6 scopes I can tell you yes the 1-6 scopes are better. The Swarovski Z6i is the best lower power scope I have used. I like my Trijicon TR24 but its not in the same legue.

As a private individual, it is the price point of the -6s that is the limiting factor for me.

The SS -6 looks promising though. I was reading all the -4 threads on M4C last night, and the SS -4 seems to be the lowest price optic that gets a "reliable for serious-use" rating. I've only been through the first two pages of this thread (because it is so long I saved it for last), but that is my impression so far.
