Thanks grant. I really like the 6920, but I don't want the carry handle, could I swap that out for a buis?

    YES!
Or just do the full 6920 like Grant suggested.

On a side note- I helped a couple relatives assemble some ARs a while back. While we didn't make out with a huge bargain dollar wise, we were able to get some decently high quality rifles put together on a reasonable budget, along with some extra goodies like magazines and Gunfighter charging handles, that you would be tacking on extra dollars for on top of an initial rifle purchase. You can see them here if you want: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=97876
    Just another idea.

You know, I think this is what everyone overlooks with these brands- some people try to lump them in with the real high-end stuff, and that gets other folks pissed off because they're not quite there.
Imho, I like to look at the current lineup of brands in tiers, with brands like Colt/BCM, etc. on top, followed by ST/PSA/etc., followed by all the others I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.
I think what may be being missed is, you don't automatically "lose" if you have a second line AR- you just have to realize what you have and understand it may not perform up to the standards of a first-line AR.
Maybe that's redundant and not making any sense. But what I'm trying to say is, for example a neighbor of mine that is into ARs builds his own, but he's obsessed with using bargain-basement components because he can put them together for cheap (ironically he won't use any Magpul MBUS sights because "they're plastic". Go figure.). I think the highest quality rifle he's sitting on right now is a CMMG franken-SPR. I've suggested other better brands, and even brough my AR over to show him, but he likes cheap I guess. Regardless of budgetary constrains som people just will not dish out for better stuff because it all seems the same and they don't understand the difference.
However, recently he started using PSA's lowers as they were on sale. He liked them enough to look into their other parts, like uppers, and there's now a strong possibility he will use those on new builds.
Is it a Colt? No- but I'd rather have him using PSA's stuff than DPMS.... And who knows- maybe once he gets ahold of the PSA parts and notices an improvement in quality he'll be more open to moving up the ladder later on.

(This is not an attack on anyone here- just an observation and musings on it)

Nor should anyone else, because "wonderful" is not a verb, it's an adjective.

I'd jump on this if I were you OP.

But good luck, whatever you decide to do.

That's what I'm going to do. Just have to wait a little bit so I can save up a little more.

Are you serious? I feel like you may be joking and I might be being dense. But if you're serious, damn that's a hell of a coincidence!

    This!

That's the fastest way of ending up with a bunch of "spare" gun parts.

I hope I am not jumping in too late on this. I have Spikes mid length. I have had it for 2 years and been through the M4 course at the KLETC last year with it, which was a three day 1500 round class if I remember correctly. I run 1500-2000 rounds on average a year through it which I know isn’t a lot. I also just received my M4/AR armorer certification last month. I read way more here then I post.
That being said I have no complaints about my Spike’s rifle. To this point I have had only one malfunction, it was a failure to extract. This is more on shooting low quality ammo and not the rifle. My mid-length came assembled correctly and everything was staked correctly. If I do my part it is as accurate as any other comparably firearm. I just purchased stripped Spikes lower for my first build I am starting. The reason I went with the Spikes lower is to support a local shop. I have recently read on the TOS how their (Spikes) reps conduct themselves and were turned off from buying anything else from them. My mid length has done everything I have asked it to do and I have absolute faith in it. But with my build the only thing Spikes is going to be the lower receiver. The upper receiver is going to be Colt, BCM, or LMT. The LPK kit will hopefully come from Grant if I can wait that long.
IMO Spikes rifles are in the upper tier of rifles, it is the company’s management and marketing that makes them look like a bunch of dipshits and appeal to the mall ninjas and Zombie hunters.
