I love my AR pistols. My Rainier 7.5" is consistant and fairly accurate to 75 yards. Farthest I shoot it.
It's very loud and has a lot of concussion come off it.
I use a linear comp to direct the blast forward.
I always keep a couple pistol lowers around just so I can have my SBR uppers a place to be.
I also have my SBR lowers.

The one use I see for an SBR is so you can attach a suppressor and still have a reasonable length weapon.
I had a suppressor on an 11.5 M16 for a demo (post-86) and it balanced so nicely.

Imo my friends pws diablo pistol is pretty damn fun at the range but i dont see much practical use.
Here's a spin on the ar pistol with a legal vfg that is interesting that is marketed more for the non sbr states:

I can see a limited application in PSD work where SBR's aren't allowed, but many states also have limitations on what weapons licensed security agents can use as well. You can put a foam wrap on the tube for a cheekweld and use the end of the reciever extension as a small buttstock. Outside that, they're a fun toy, but not much else.

I see the AR pistol as a waste of time and people would be better served sticking with a proper carbine, an SBR (if legal) or just getting a good solid handgun and practicing.

You will never get a good solid checkweld or stable platform with the AR pistol and I would venture that most of those AR pistol owners have them as some kind of cool novelty and don't get alot of range time with them.

I agree with gunz. If you want a high power pistol to mimic your carbine, try FN 5.7 20 rounds of high velocity power. As accurate or more than an AR pistol. It was designed to be a pistol, not something crudely chopped down to take shape and form like one. Just my .02

I have a 7.5" AR pistol because I can tuck it in the floorboard of my car legally using my concealed handgun permit. I have to keep it in the trunk if it's a rifle. If I wanted to, I could carry it in a backpack also.

Fully agreed. I think an AR pistol is just splitting hairs too much. If you want a compact high power firearm, get an SBR (if legal) or just a well built carbine. If you want a pistol, get a pistol

I would rather have a standard pistol on my person and a real AR in the trunk.

Exactly. I trained with a full size M16A4 w/M203 and I was still able to clear rooms effectively. Adapt and overcome.
