Well...., Maybe I got Lucky with the Sig TACOPS fullsize I picked up a couple of weeks ago.
I got this TACOPS to instruct with. I've had several folks shooting railed 1911s as of late during low-light training and I like to be shooting the same type weapon as the student. I've never really like the "looks" of a railed 1911, but the Sig with the non-traditional slide just seem to go along well with the rail.
Using Federal ball ammo I first did some function firing to settle the firearm in. Next was the 20 yard shots off of a bench rest. I used a six o'clock hold on the black dot and slowed fired a full mag after topping off. When I checked the results the comment "HOT D**N" came to mind. I then went right to my modified "Bill Drill" which is a topped off weapon with a full mag reload. I'm about 600 rounds into it right now and not a single function issue.
I'm impressed with this Sig TACOPS...., this coming from an old-school Colt guy. I think alot of the bad press on Sig 1911s comes from the earlier "GSR" guns they first came out with which were a collection of good parts put together poorly.
Today, IMHO they might be the most undervalued production 1911 on the market right now.
The only dislike I have is the grip safety. The shape of the upper tang seems to have an edge that cuts into my thumb using a high hold. Might have to take a dremel to it later. I had concerns about the stubbie thumb safety, but so far I haven't had any issues.
