They also carry KAC and they don't seem to want to recommend that. I understand they might push what they mainly sell but they should still not be so far outside the truth to say an RRA is as good/better than a Colt.
Then straight up lie by saying our military is moving towards Rock River.. I mean.. like... what??![]()
Did you read his post? The guy recommended an RRA over a Knights sr15, which they had in stock as well.
The OP's local gunshop probably isn't completely clueless on what's good and what's bad. Or at the very least they know what's hard to get. So they recommend the shitty stuff that's easy to get so that if someone walks in the door knowing they want an SR15, the store will have it in stock.
My local gunshop sorta has the same problem that Grant has. He's a Colt/Noveske dealer and he tries his best to push those products. However i remember one time a guy came in there asking for a Stag. The dealer didn't carry stag and was trying to sway him to a colt 6920 since they're configured the same but he was trying to explain that the colt is better quality and milspec. But because the price was like $150 more than the stag he was looking at from another shop, he decided not to get the colt. lol.
My dealer is smart though. He stocks the good stuff AND the cheap stuff. So he'll make money both ways lol. Will have products in stock for those who know what's good and will also have products in stock for people who don't know shit and just want cheap.
How do we know it was even for sale? Maybe it was already sold. Who knows.
I still don't understand why some of you guys would expect any salesmen to recommend something they don't sell or tell you what they sell is inferior to what we would all consider the top tier brands.
This circle has spun too many times for me, so feel free to antagonize your LGS and then moan about it here.

Sounds like the majority of the members need to take an econ 101class before posting. I'd imaging they sell 20 RRA, DPMS, Oly or whatever you want to every 1 KAC that goes out the door. Average person isn't buying to go to war or serve warrants to anyone with the local SWAT team. They are buying to go to the range, show off to their friends or perhaps get into a new hobby. When you bought your first car, did you buy a Corvette, shiney new truck, Ferrari or Benz? No, of course not, it was your first, so you bought a car that ran, was shiny and was damn proud of even having a car. Hell, you might have had to fix it up befroe you could even drive it, I know I did. So with that in mind, what the hell is the differance if the new guy buys a lower "teir"(less expensive) rifle to start out with? He shoots it, talks to others at the range, learns whats good and bad and maybe next time moves up the food chain. Christ almighty, you'd think by buying a cheaper...or not one of the holy rifles droned on about here someone commetted murder or something. Point is, everyone starts somewhere and ends up somewhere else. Some people research a bit before buying, some jump in with both feet, either way gets you in the game and maybe, just maybe will stay in it for a lifetime.
We don't antagonize them for recommending stuff they carry, we antagonize them for not putting in the effort for carrying the good brands. If the OP had asked that question and the worker at the gunshop said, well those are popular brands and we're sold out at the moment, i don't think this thread would exist.
I think it is silly to paint ALL local gun shops with the same brush. "My" LGS is where I bought my Colt 6920 MP-B. (Side note: I selected the Colt after reading this forum and consulting with a tactical trainer friend. I thought about buying the Colt online, except every single online retailer I checked were out of stock.)
The shop I go to mostly caters to hunters, they stock something like 1000 guns, a few of which are an assortment of ARs: Colt, BM, DPMS, etc. They are willing to order any other gun you want as well, or lower receiver if you want.
They never tried talking me into any particular AR, they simply said "These are what we have in stock, you can pick up any of them to take a closer look." There is zero pressure, they ask if you need help, and then leave you alone.
oops!
