Yeah I can see the fine line an educated salesperson has to walk too.

Customer wants cheaper gun, salesman actually has a better gun that costs more. As soon as you start to push it you risk loosing the sale all together.

You're in business to sell guns so in the end you need to sell what sells.

I say let the idiots buy their ****ing Cock River Arms, Crapalites, and Buttmasters. Then when the world ends they will be easier to dispose of with my BCM. While they fumble to get theirs working I will simply put one right in their head. I learned the hard way to NEVER listen to a gun store owner or employee. Most of them are just used car salesmen who peddle guns. They don't know anything about guns, and frankly don't give a shit about their consumers. They just want your cash which is why I feel no guilt about buying quality gear on line from reputable dealers and giving nothing but transfer fee's to the local guys. I have lived in five different states since being an adult and I have never been to a reputable gun shop, and don't even get me started about those douche bags at gun shows.

    Like assplay much or something?

Anyway, there are good and bad gunstores. If you find a bad one, don't support it, look for a good one. Find a gunstore that has employees who shoot alot or compete, and you'll find a crew of people who might just know what the **** they're talking about.

Its this that allows Wal-Mart to be able to sell inferior products (esp. anything with chinese steel) and the quality parts/hardware (American Steel) store goes under....I do realize the wally world rant was a little off base.
I dont totally disagree with you, but you are comparing wally to colt, bcm, and DD. Wal mart does sell inferior products, but the mentioned rifles are superior to the latter half RRA, Bushmaster ect. I wont deny colt dd hasve "better adds" but they also have better products. Im not saying RRA is total shit but for a dealer to say colt is inferior is ludacris. Wally world is full of bastards to compare them to colt is just wrong.....

    You guys are right!

they should totally ignore the market and sell the good things only, no matter what people want to buy!

It's not like we live in a capitalist society or anything!

As stated above: the market is driven by advertisment. The sad side of this is that all of those junk manufacturers make a boatload of money off of the non-savy buyers and for them the profit is what drives them. Since I have been a victim of of these junk manufacturers I can honestly say that without a good knowledge base, most would never know the difference and when they head out to the range once or twice in a 3 month span and it fires good for them while they are there, they would assume that what they had was a great buy. Even here on what I believe is an extremely informative forum people still argue the fact that what they have is the best even if it has been proven a heap...

I find there is a GENERAL trend: the higher the income in the area and number of shooter/buyers the higher quality gear they carry.

And here is the answer to all your gunshop woes......All of the tier 1 manufacturers open their own retail shops around the country! Why bother with a piss ant middle man when you can deal direct??

And yet, it doesn't happen, and probably won't.
