None of the custom shop guns come with ILS unless you specifically request it.

I know the Professional is built to the FBI's specs, but are there any features that most people think could be changed to make it an even better fighting gun?

Wilson owner since 2007. Hands down one of the best purchases I have ever made. 6000 rounds and still counting. Have the cqb elite and love it. I do wish I had the light rail model tho. It eats anything you put in it.

When ordering from Springfield, the slide will no longer be marked "Professional" or receive the CRG serial prefix if you want to substitute parts.

Yep. It will be a Custom Carry. Still just as good as a Pro...

I've owned both and preferred the Professional but the CQB was good to go too. Having said that, LAV told me about a year ago that Wilson was currently putting out the best guns they had ever built.

As a general comment, it is amazing what free market competition does to quality and price…

I purchased my CQB circa early 2009. I bought it as a fun gun as I shoot and carry Glocks. During the first 750 rounds I experienced two 3 point jams, one at the 500 round mark and one 50 or so rounds later. I inspected the rounds and found noticeable bullet set back; they were from the same brand, and unfortunately I cannot remember the brand, but it was cheap FMJ , I want to say PMC, but I'm not sure. The bullets were easy to set back though. No problems with the other types of ammo including Ranger T, Magtech, WWB, and a few others. Still I was nervous that my $2200 gun was not running flawlessly. I contacted Wilson, and I had an excellent customer service experience. Wilson payed for shipping both ways and I had the gun back in around 7 days. I dealt with one CS representative that was extremely responsive by phone and email. They did some mild work on the barrel throat. They noted that they shot 50 rounds with no problem, and they sent me two magazines free. The pistol is a low round gun, and I think I may only have 1500 rounds through it, but have had no other malfunctions.

I guess my ultimate point is that if one spends that kind of money on a pistol, having that type of excellent customer service is a huge plus, if not absolute must, especially if it is a 1911 you are buying! I have read that Springfield also has excellent CS, and I think that you'd be served well by either company, and by either the PRO or the CQB, and I agree that you are basically splitting hairs, but I highly recommend Wilson as a company, and the CQB, based on my experience. Hope this helps.

Have there been any other head to head comparisons? I love torture tests, its kind of like the UFC of product reviews.
