    1. G23 with a 9mm Wolf Conversion barrel (drop in, no tools just like OP said). Although the 9mm is out there in broad numbers, remember, most of the Govt 3-letter agencies AND police forces are stock piling the .40 cal round. Also remember that when the "panic" began, you could still find .40 cal ammo for a while after the 9mm disappeared. Oh yeah, it also strikes fear in BGs!

    2. AR in 5.56. Again - wildly popular, adaptable, dependable, and LEO/MIL has them in stock (with same ammo).

As y'all are answering this question...hopefully it has identified that these shouldn't be "dream" guns - but they should form the bedrock for your defense (along with a good shottie and .22 rifle/pistol). We as gun owners should have started with these four - and moved upward and outward from there. At the end of the day, I'm not toting some specially modified .45 1911 or high end 6.8 Grendel when SHTF, I'm sticking with my bedrock.

    Enjoy.

Is it too late to change my go-to pistol selection to the Zip gun?
