    M&P 22

Anyone have experience with the Smith & Wesson M&P 22? I'm looking to get a 22LR pistol and am considering it. My other options are the Walther P22 or the Sig Mosquito. I want a tactical style .22 and am NOT considering a 1911 clone.

I own two of those pistols (M&P22 and Mosquito) and have shot the P22. There is no comparison with these guns IMO, the M&P22 is a far better gun in terms of functional reliability and the fact that it is a extremely close representation of the full size, centerfire M&P which is a plus for inexpensive training.

The P22 seems to run well but isn't a good representation of an actual gun. Its far to small to be used as a training tool IMO. The Mosquito is a complete joke of a gun and won't cycle properly on anything other then CCI Mini-Mags and even then has some issues from time to time. My M&P22 on the other hand has been very reliable on a multitude of ammunition. It is very accurate and the trigger, at least the weight of the pull, is better then the full size version. I would highly recommend the M&P22.

I've been exceedingly happy with my M&P22. It works best with Federal bulk pack and absolutely fails with American Eagle. CCI MiniMag works well, too. Winchester bulk pack is hit and miss.

The M&P 22 is a great little gun. I have had mine for a few months now and put about 1000 rounds through it, mostly Federal American Eagle and Blazer with hardly a hickup from it. It functions flawlessly, is very accurate and feels about as close to a real M&P as a .22 could.

At the range i usually warm up with a 100 - 200 rounds through it before switching to my 9mm. It makes for good cheap practice.

I could not be more happy with my M&P 22.

M&P 22 it is then. I just need to to check if my local dealer can get one. On thing I've notched is spare mags were not available from S&W. Is that still true?

I like mine, it seems to function better then most .22lr semi auto pistols...I have shot Winchester bulk, Remington golden bullet, CCI mini mag, and federal bulk around 3500rds so far, only malfunctions I have had were due to a DIRTY DIRTY gun...

Does it lock the slide back with the last round? I have been looking to get one for my step-son.
