    Running scopes in tandem?

I see alotta people running two scopes in tandem with one a another and was just wondering with the exception of a regular scope and then a night vision scope what is the benefits of running two of them? And what are some good combinations or is it all preference?

Running a higher power optic for medium to long range a red dot for short range work is good. Running a ACOG or low power variable for short to medium range with a off set red dot for super short range and for akward firing positions.
