Hello,
Does anyone know how to modify the LMT BUIS by removing the big nut and replacing it with a small, less obtrusive one? I have the correct nut but am having difficulty removing the big one with out destroying the cross bolt...
Thanks,
Spooky

Cross bolts?
The threaded rod the knob is screwed onto should be staked like any good carry handle is. I believe a dimple or hole is drilled into the bolt and then once the knob is screwed on, a punch is inserted and whacked to enlarge the head just enough so that the knob won't come off easily.
You should be able to use pliers to twist it off. The worst that should happen is it will compress the head and fix the threads.
It wouldn't quite go so I needed to hold the other end of the threaded rod (a cross bolt by my terms) and goobered up the end of it. The end that sits inside the actual sight itself. Once you try to put the new smaller nut back on, the threaded rod spins freely in the rear sight. I could possibly stake it like a bolt carrier to make it stay... Hmmm... Folks, I'm a big dumb animal sometimes...
