    Vomit.

Didnt find much with a search..

Whether weight training or cardio, I pretty reliably vomit or have to stifle vomit at some point during my workouts. Am I just pushing myself too hard/too fast? Is this just the way some people's bodies respond to this type of stress? Is there any way to limit or eliminate this without limiting my workouts? I have tried lowering weight and increasing reps, I have tried slowing my runs. I do not eat for several hours before either.

6', 170 lbs. Running 1.5 and 3 miles regularly at high altitude that I am acclimated to. Thank you for any insight and help.

If you are vomiting that frequently then you probably need to tone your workouts down a bit. Only things that made me get sick like that over the years were vigorous squats (especially after a night of drinking) and summer football camp. In both cases I was simply pushing a little too hard that particular day while doing core exercises.

If your issue continues, you may want to see a doctor and have your stomach checked out.

How hard are you working out? How hard have you worked out in the past? How many hours do you wait after eating before working out?

If you go too hard too fast, I've seen that cause vomiting. Working out hungry isn't a particularly good idea either.

Also check to see if you might have acid reflux disease, which makes food more prone to coming up.

I've puked after harsh or sudden unplanned work outs. But it should NOT be a regularity. If I push myself hard after a long layoff I can get nauseous to this day but it rare. I figure it's my body's way of saying what the **** are you doing to me. If start slow and develop a routine it never happens. Working out on an full or empty stomach isn't a good idea. You need to find the balance that works for you. Lower the intensity and keep your heart rate under control. You shouldnt really be maxing your heart rate for long periods without expecting your body to say stop. Doesn't matter is its 10# 100 reps or 100# 10 reps; if you're stressing the system you're stressing the system. Also find the caloric balance you need. Eating a couple of hours before a work out may not be sufficient for your body/metabolism. Maybe try a protein shake an hour before.

Either way, if you drop the intensity and change nutrition habits and you're still puking, see a doctor ASAP. That ain't normal.

Describe your work outs with timing. Then we can tell you if you are going to hard or being a wuss

I think that might be your problem right there. Try eating something, small meal, about an hour before you start working out.

It may be that your workout exceeds your current level of conditioning, but it's not normal to vomit literally every time you exercise, especially if still happening after reducing your volume/weights. I'd recommend a break from exercise and a medical check up personally.

    Stay well.
