    New to Colorado

I just moved from MD to CO - because of my F.N.G. disease I was wondering if I could get some direction. I am residing in the saddle rock area of Aurora and would like some reviews on ranges in the area as well training classes. Please keep the "join my club its cool" and "that class is tango uniform" comments to yourself and provide factual experiences.

Here is what i was able to find out so far locally:

http://www.aurorasc.org/ (a bit spendy as I was under the impression it would be cheaper out west to get a membership to a range)

    http://www.bestlittlegunstore.com/Training/Training.htm

non locally (and can't wait to attend any of these courses)

    http://www.magpuldynamics.com/weapons-manipulation.html

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah it was down when I found it - it is back up, hope that they have their server infrastructure worked out.

Welcome to CO! Most professional training sessions go down in Pueblo, but if you search around you can find some smaller training organizations closer to you. I only shoot in Nor CO, so I cant give you advice about ranges near you.

Already attended my first pistol class for the CO CCW - minor miss-read of the county's reg's as it looks like they would have accepted my DD214 paper work for up to 10 years after seperation. Now all I need is a CO ID Love the interactions with the people out here - unfortunately I think that makes me the asshole eastcoaster

From what I hear, the only gun club without a waiting list is the Ben Lomand Gun Club out by Ramah.

I thought Aurora had a three-four year waiting list?

I joined Colorado Rifle Club outside of Byers, and I mean outside of Byers. With out traffic it takes me about an hour from around Cherry Creek Mall to the range- not bad. Steel out to 500m, a 1000 yard High-power style range and a bunch of smaller pistol caliber bays.

There is pretty much something to do every weekend. Co-ar15.com and Zak Smith's ColoradoMultigun website http://coloradomultigun.com/ are good places for local matches.

You are right about the waiting lists, thought it would be easier in the mid/southwest to find a club without waiting lists - they have narrowed it down for me to the Ben Lomond Gun Club, waiting for a response from them. It puts the drive time to around 40 minutes to go shooting. The only other areas that are close is the family shooting center (will check them out this weekend -but they have mixed reviews online) and the Tri service sportsman's club at Buckley AFB as they don't make you wait if your are a vet, they don't have a pistol range though .

FMCDH - outside of Byers is a hell of a hike for me - don't think it would be worth the drive time to make the trip.
